The Blue framework is a core set of objects and services used for developing object-oriented, event-driven Web applications. Based on years real-world e-business application development experience, Blue manages many aspects of application development so that your development staff doesn?t have to.
With Blue, software can become more agile, delivering applications at lower cost and in less time than ever before. The framework can assemble components from existing resources and new services. Services hosted on different applications can work together, and applications developed from different business units can be administered and secured in one place.
Key features of Blue include:
- Low level programming services to speed up application development
- System level security and access to content types
- Extensive Meta Data layer provides object modeling and dynamic content delivery
- Ability to maintain all forms of content (text, images, sounds, video, external files, databases)
- Multilingual content personalization and categorization
- Role-based security, workflow and personalization
- Modular, extendable object based Java library of components
- Multi-platform support; Blue runs on any J2EE application server
- Integration with any Java, .NET or ColdFusion MX application.
- Flexible MVC-like web application framework
Browser-Based Administration Blue's functionality can be accessed via a simple-to-use web interface running on a standard Internet browser. Through this interface, the system administrator can:
- Add, delete and modify objects
- Maintain users, roles and security authorizations
- Maintain data in diverse data stores
- Configure display and edit handlers
- Syndicate content from external data stores & web services
Content Management Blue's content management takes the first generation of web development tools further by providing ways to store, index, search, retrieve and organize an ever growing collection of disparate object types and items. These items may be texts, links, graphics, audio clips, scripts or anything else that can be categorized rationally and stored on a computer for display on the Web. Blue provides an easy and convenient way to manage these resources.
Meta Data Repository The Meta Data Repository holds the information about the structure of the data sources with which Blue interacts with. The Meta Data Repository is a user-configurable data store that stores a logical and physical model of the database system: the physical model describes the database in terms of tables, views and columns while the logical model defines user-oriented objects and their relationships to each other objects and data stores. The Repository provides critical resources to the application layer during runtime to automatically build data store interfaces for operations such as listing screens, filtering capabilities and sorting capabilities and all data entry and display forms.
Integration Blue provides both non-intrusive and direct transaction access to nearly any legacy environment, web services or ERP systems such as SAP R/3. Blue support a wide variety of services and APIs for integrating with nearly any client-side application, portal, application server, or middleware solution. Support includes JCA, EJB, Java, COM, XML and Web Services.
